UCHUMI CLOSES TWO BRANCHES IN UGANDA, SENDS 180 WORKERS HOME


Uchumi Supermarkets has sent 180 workers on forced leave after closing two branches in Kabalagala and Nateete in Kampala, Uganda.

The two branches were closed on Sunday and Monday respectively.
Early last week, the Kabalagala branch was closed after Umeme cut off power supply to the outlet over a Sh70m electricity bill.

DON'T TAKE SWEETS FROM SUPERMARKETS AS CHANGE




The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has warned supermarkets against issuing alternative goods to shoppers instead of currency without their consent.

The CBK said it has enough stock of coins and asked the public to report if they are given the products instead of the currency.
